1 Thes. 1: A Work of Faith—on Probing the Prophets with Rod
After exploring their early beginnings from Acts, seeing the impact Paul had on them, we’ll take note of their conviction and commitment. Here were men and women, some of whom had never been involved with Israel’s God, but they were standing by their faith in Him against severe persecution. The word of God’s message–especially those places where God’s promises were kept–moved them to action: accepting it, acting upon it, and enduring for it.
Paul mentioned three ways he brought them the gospel: power, Holy Spirit, and full conviction. That was his approach. And, they mimicked him. Their faith showed two ways: expectant endurance and full-voice proclamation.
This first writing of Paul set the bar high for every believer who would follow–down to this present day. I look forward to “unpacking” these two short books; Paul’s first letters. Join me.
