A former Aurora police officer who allegedly provided methamphetamine to a woman appeared in court Wednesday morning in Arapahoe County.

Josiah Seth Coe, 32, has been charged with distribution of a controlled substance and official misconduct, according to police.

Coe, on March 4, allegedly provided a woman with a controlled substance while he was working an off-duty assignment, police said in a statement. The woman contacted police March 31 about the incident and an internal affairs investigation began.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was notified, and an “independent criminal investigation” was also undertaken. Coe resigned from the department April 22.

The defendant appeared in court Wednesday. A disposition hearing is scheduled for June 7.
