Human remains could be Iowa boy who disappeared in May, police say – New York Post

An Iowa farmer on Thursday found human remains that authorities said match the description of a 10-year-old boy who vanished in the area last May.

The remains were located in a field a few miles from Montezuma, where Xavior Harrelson went missing from the trailer park he and his mother lived in, KCCI-TV reported.

“It appears to be that of an adolescent and at this time, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assistant director Mitch Mortvedt told the news station.

“The clothing that we see on scene, even though it’s obviously soiled and stuff, is consistent with what we knew Xavior to last be wearing,” said Mortvedt.

Identifying the body could take several weeks, the Des Moines Register reported, citing Mortvedt.

Xavior disappeared while riding his bike near his home May 27 — three days before 11th birthday.

No suspects or persons of interest have been named in the boy’s disappearance.

A former boyfriend of the boy’s mother has come under scrutiny and was jailed on a federal weapons charge.

But authorities have not alleged the 50-year-old man was involved in Xavior’s disappearance.
