Jas. 3: Hey, Watch what you say—on Probing the Prophets with Rod
/
After we discuss the second half of chapter two–the uselessness of a bravado faith–we will consider the power of the tongue.

“Don’t let many of you become teachers,” admonised James. Why not? Greater condemnation = held to higher standards and greater accountability.

Imagine the tongue’s power. It has greater destructive force than a forrest fire!

Imagine the tongue’s impact. It can dramatically change the course of one’s entire life!

Imagine the tongue’s destructiveness. It can produce vile poisons; from it can arise “every evil thing!”

James was concerned that his readers would be more than forgetful hearers. He wanted them to become effective doers. This is no more necessary than when it comes to the tongue.

Join us as we learn to “hold your tongue, young man.”
