A Look at Isaiah 28:16 The Foundation Stone for the Messianic Temple Bellview Lectures Review of Gary Summers Part 4
Are we living in the Christian age or the age to come? Heb. 2 and 6?
Can we find different kinds of comings, judgments the O.T. Scriptures in the O.T. When was the prophecy of Joel chapter 2 fulfilled? Is the great and terrible day of the Lord yet future?
We’re told by Gary Summers that in the Book of Revelation, Rome is the great city, also called the harlot. Is there any proof of that statement?
Mr. Summers says the use of language alone is not valid, i.e. is not sufficient to determine whether a text pertains to the fall of Jerusalem or not. We agree, but is that reason to apply the text speaking of Mystery Babylon to Rome?
How many builders or sailors were walking the streets of Jerusalem? This is a common objection when we speak of the merchants and ships that had commercial interests in Jerusalem. Historically Rome, not Israel, Mr. Summers says, was the persecutor of Jerusalem. He does of course state that Jesus referred to his own followers, Rev. 3 and admits that the coming of the Lord in Sardis is not a future coming, while yet logically being driven to the conclusion that this was a coming as a thief in the night.
On final judgment, he admits similar language with national judgments, Isa 19 is not the coming of the Lord saying sometimes they were literal and sometimes they were figurative. We’ll discuss his application of Matt. 3:7-12 to the end of time coming, because the Lord would gather the wheat and chaff and cast into the unquenchable fire, per Matt. 8:11, 13:49-ff, He asks, “How in the world would you get Ad 70 out of these verses and the judgment of Tyre and Sidon. Other passages cited for a future end are 2 Thess 1:10 and Acts 24:25 and Rev. 1:7, every eye shall see him. Even Matt. 26:64, by Summers has a future fulfillment.
