A man was stabbed Friday morning in Westminster in a domestic violence incident, police said.

Police are looking for the suspect, identified as 45-year-old James Paul Montoya. He may be driving a black 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck with Colorado license plate QAO690.

On Feb. 4, officers responded to a stalking incident that escalated into an alleged second-degree assault, kidnapping, felony menacing and a protection order violation related to domestic violence, police said in a news release.

Police have been looking for Montoya since the Feb. 4 incident. On Friday morning, the female victim returned to her home at about 8:30 a.m., along with her brother, after they had run some errands, police said. Montoya had broken into the home and was awaiting their return.

The female victim suffered minor injuries, escaped and called 911. Her brother was stabbed and suffered life-threating injuries, police said. He was taken to a local hospital. The suspect had fled the scene before police arrived.

Police describe Montoya as a white man, about 6’2″ tall and 160 pounds with brown eyes, a shaved head and a full beard. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 (STOP).
